Dates Announced for 2016

The Toyota One Hit Wonder Big Air returns to Thredbo Alpine Resort as the crown event on the Australian freeski calendar from the 6th-10th of September...

The biggest jump built at the time by Thredbo's renowned park crew eight years ago has since evolved into an AFP (Association of Freeskiing Professionals) World Tour stop revered by the best big air athletes in the world. Last year this high flying spectacle saw a finals showdown unprecedented on an international stage when the weather, jump conditions and hyphy all aligned in a perfect storm for the handpicked line-up of Olympians, World Cup and X Games champions to go head to head on the 100 foot feature.

"Following the epic stomp-o-rama of 2015, newsmen around the country have been asking for quotes from us to pump up this year... But I honestly don't know how we are going to top it, things really escalated. Rest assured though we'll place some energy bars around the athlete house before inviting the best skiers in the world back to Thredbo. Hold on to your potatoes." -Timothy Myers, Media Director

Event Wing Commander Andreas Gloor has also promised more of the elements that have made the Toyota One Hit Wonder Big Air such a long running success in the high country. "What makes this week so unique is the athletes themselves have so much say in how the show is run. If they want a bigger jump, we build it bigger. It's still a competition so eventually we'll have to give someone the cash, but until then it's a pretty fun journey of progression for both the competitors and spectators."

Invitations for the eighth rendition of the first gold ranked big air stop of the World Tour will be sent in August with the final field announced soon after. A handful of the world's best will then descend on Thredbo looking to take home the cash, as well as the possibility of earning an early points advantage ahead of the Northern Hemisphere tour kickoff.
